Wood-plastic composites (WPCs) are composite materials made of wood fiber/wood flour and thermoplastic(s) such as PE, PP, PVC, or PLA. It has properties such as high bending strength, high durability, high shear strength, low moisture content, low water absorption and low moisture content, as compared to traditional wood and wood products. Wood Plastic Composite (WPC) can be used in windows, railings, fencing, exterior sliding, flooring, landscape materials and interior molding. Wood-plastic composites (WPCs) are produced by mixing heated thermoplastic resin and ground wood particles. The most commonly used method for production is extrusion of material into the desired shape, though injection molding is also used. Wood Plastic Composite (WPC) may be produced from either recycled or virgin thermoplastics including LDPE, HDPE, PP, PVC, PS, ABS, and PLA. Polyethylene material is most commonly used for manufacturing of WPC. Additives such as coupling agents, colorants, UV stabilizers, foaming agents, blowing agents, and lubricants used while manufacturing WPC.
